The quality index of the down characterizes the loft and the shrinkage capacity of the down. For this, we measure the volume in Cuin (cubic inches) of an American ounce of down (i.e. 28.35g). The more carefully the down has been sorted, the greater its fluffiness. The IDFB (International Down and Feather Bureau) establishes the maximum "fill power" at approximately 750 Cuin, a value considered inaccessible given the natural (down produced by animals) and technical (down sorting) constraints.
